With several years of experience as a Structural Integrator and manual therapist working in elite sports clubs, professional sports, orthopedic and rehabilitation clinics, I've had the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients presenting different needs. Using manual therapy combined with performance stretching, movement dysfunction, muscle and soft tissue injuries can be addressed through tailored treatments specific to each client.
Structural Integration is a type of advanced bodywork that focuses on re-establishing the body’s natural alignment. This work is performed in a series of ten sessions spaced one to two weeks apart with each session being built upon the last. Focusing on the body’s protective connective tissue layer called fascia, this work explores the possibility of change in how you use and experience your body.
Fascia surrounds muscles, organs, and nerves. It gives muscles their shape and the body its structure. As fascia is lengthened, it allows the muscles to move with fluidity creating a balanced body that will expand from its core with efficient movement patterns, carrying less of a load and compression on your joints and spine.
While the structural integration series is completed in ten sessions, it may, and is often, used in individual sessions. This dynamic work, whether performed in a series or a stand alone session, restores postural balance by integrating the body in gravity.
Well known benefits of Structural Integration include:
Improved Posture
Reduced Spinal Curvature
Improved Flexibility
Pain and Discomfort Relief
Improved Movement Patterns
